Eighth Ward firefighters responded to a single-vehicle motor vehicle accident on Interstate 12 today. The F-250 pulling a trailer was headed westbound near the Robert exit when it left the highway for unknown reasons and impacted a tree. Thankfully the sole occupant was not severely injured.

Firefighters were required to utilize stabilizing jacks in order to safely remove the patient from the vehicle.

2021 has been a busier than normal year for emergency calls. To date the Department has responded to 586 emergencies in 2021 which represents a 35% increase from 2020.
